EXACT is a short course for children’s transport health professionals who fly. It is aimed at competent transport heath professionals with a bit of flight experience who want to develop this aspect of their role further.

To use a nursing example, most children’s transport nurses are “nurses who fly” rather than “flight nurses”, i.e. the flying is but one facet of their job. The EXACT Course is designed to help already competent transport health professionals become proficient at aeromedical transport, and help them to to see what “expert” might look like in this context, through a mixture of knowledge acquisition and reflective practice.

The course is for continuing professional development. It aims to provide a knowledge base and supporting community. Your employer should have arrangements such as supervised practice and competency sign-off prior to undertaking flight transports. The EXACT course does not act as an alternative for aircraft orientation from an air provider and does not automatically qualify you for any particular role or position.
